| honey
Honey is natural food sorce produced by bees using the nectar of flowers that the bees forage, transform, combine with specific substances of their own, store and leave it to mature in the honeycombs inside the beehives.
To prepare 100 g of honey a bee has to visit aproximately a milion flowers.
To extract the honey from the combs the bee-keeper uncaps them and afterwards he centrifugates them. The honey comes out in a liquid form, thanks to the temperature that the bees have in the inside of the bee entrance, about 37ºC. Passed a period of time the honey is transformed into a mass of paste, granulated and opac, due to the christalization of the sugars in the honey.
Christalised honey (hard honey) is as nice or even more so as the liquid honey, it is a waranty of quality for the buyer, as it shows that it hasn`t been manipulated.
The composition of 100g of honey is approximately
Water 17 – 20 %
Glucose 30 - 35 %
Fructose 38 %
Sacarose 1 – 5 %
Malt 7,5 %
Other sugars 5%
Proteins 0,25 %
Minerals 0,5 – 1,5 %
Honey is made out of lots of sugars of direct assimilation: glucose and fructose it istransformed quickly into energy for the organism, thats why its considered a good muscle strengthener, a reconstructer and it has effects when it comes to interlectual stimulating.
Also its demostrated that it has antiseptic efects, as it makes it dificult for bacteris to reproduce, also it has been demostrated that it has healing powers and it has been used with success on burns and skin diseases, and wounds and ulcers.
Honey can be used as a laxantive and diuretic, as it favours the intestinal traffic.
It is advisable for child food, it reinforces bones, muscles and organs.
Also used for colds and respiratory diseases, and it is a good expectorant.
It has sedative efects and helps people with sleeping problems.
It norishes and hidrates skin, and it is used in all type of cosmetics.
It is advisable for pregnant women and for when she breastfeeds.
propolis
Bees use propolis to varnish, desinfect the beehive and to wet all of the inside ofthe cells where the queen bee lays her eggs, to sterilize them and this permits the queen bee to use the cells more than once.
The average composition of propolis is:
Sap and soothers: 50%
Wax: 30 %
Aromtic oils: 10 %
pollen 5 %
Organic material5 %
Propolis also contains oligo-elements, between others: copper, manganese, barium, calcium, cobalt, chromium, iron, nickel, silica and zinc.
It has been proved that propolis has antibacterial properties, antivirus, antifungus, antiinflamatry, local anaesthetic, cellular regenerater and healer.
Also it favours the general rise of the defence mechanisms of the organism.
royal jelly
Royal jelly is the product that results from the combined secretion of the pharynx glandes and the jaw pharynx glandes of young bees from 5 to 15 days old.
The royal jelly has atleast fifteen diferent types of minerals salts that fulfil accelerating funtions in the metabolism and actions of the vitamins, as like magnesium, calcium, chloride, sodium, potasium, sulphur, phosphous aluminium, silica, iron, copper, zinc, cobalt and strontuim.
Its properties explain the fact that the queen bee, who is the only bee who eats royal jelly during all her life, is two times bigger and heavier than the other working bees, and that she lives from 4 to 5 years, during which she will lay from 2.500 to 3.000 eggs; when on the other hand a working bee who eats honey has a life from 40 to 50 days.
All of these elements that compose royal jelly are essential for the human organism from physic and psychic, giving you sensations of well-being and euphoria, disappearence of tireness. And to all this we can add a better balance of the digestive funtions.
It also has a very powerful growing factor. The royal jellys mainly advised for lactants that do not advance and for fragile teenagers, or with growing problems, which makes them rerturn to normal, giving them the strength that they needed.
It is a great source of energy and health for the senior citizens.
The average composition is:
Water 68 %
Protid 12 %
Sugars 8,5 %
Lipids 5,6 %
Royal jelly can be taken as long as wished, but it is convenient to interrupt the treatment for some time with the aim to observe better results. To eat royal jelly, its recomended to use the stick that comes with it, where approximately 0,5 g fits, which is about the same size as a rice grain, and we will put it under our tongue, it is recommend to be eaten first thing in the morning before anything else.
pollen
The pollen that bees produce is a powder that appears when the anther of the flower ripens and opens. Which in the plant its funtion is to fertilze what will become fruit and seeds. When the bees sit on top of the flower her legs get full of pollen, and she keeps it on her third back leg, where she makes a little ball about the size of a rice grain. When the bee arrives to the hive and goes though the pollen trap, the pollen falls in a container which is situated underneath and this is an easy way to extract the pollen.
In the composition of pollen, 185 nutrients have been found in all, including 22 amino acids, 27 minerals and a complete range of vitamins, enzymes, etc.
It`s considered as a general organism stimulater, providing well-being, euphoria, force, andinterlectual facultys.
It favours childrens growing and it is specially suitable for convalescents, old people and people who suffer from stress.
Pollen fights against tireness and malnutrition. It`s great richness in nutients makes it a perfect diet complement for those who follow a vegeterian diet.
The presence of enzymes make pollen a powerful stimulater of the cellular metabolism.
It has been used for diferent liver conditions and infections and also for urinary troubles. The treatment for prostate is one of the most outstanding, and it is recommendedto be used by all men over 50 to help prevent it.
The average composition of pollen is:
Water 20 - 30 %
Lipids 5 - 20 %
Glucose - Fructose 20 - 40 %
Proteins 11 - 25 %
Vitamins – enzymes –
hormons – materials 15 - 20 %
